Character Design Project DONE
So this final project for 3D class was selected to be displayed at Best of Ringling 2013. Next morning when they were arranging the show it got dropped... The person who dropped it fixed the smashed foot and I went over all the cracks and missing details in photoshop, that's why the foot is a different color. I didn't have time to paint it again. So that's the story of this little guy...
Here's the narrative of the character though:
This little guy's name is Oe. He is a Polynesian god who lives in a little island that's in the middle of the ocean, right below where the sun rises. You see Oe was a happy little god. He helped the morning tide set in and he made it rain so the crops would grow. His advisors the Tiki masks tell him what the Polynesian people are in need of, whether it's fishes, rain for the crops or wind to go sail and fish or travel with. Oe provided these for them day by day. However, these days Oe found out that the people didn't need his as much as they did before. They had underground sprinkler systems and speedboats. I f they couldn't catch enough fish to feed everybody, they imported it from somewhere else. He felt useless and detached from the Polynesian people he loved so much. So he created a hurricane one day and found out that everybody started talking about his creation. He started creating more hurricanes and then floods and then tsunamis. His advisors were not happy about this at all. If Oe keeps on ignoring what he is actually worth to people (he is responsible for the rising sun and the flowing ocean), he will just end up hurting those he loves dearly. All in expense to get some attention.
Oe translates to "you" in ancient Hawaiian language.

Invented Domicile Assignment
The assignment was to pick a known fictional character and invent a room. Room has to be personal such as their bedroom and the character cant be visible in the piece.
Who's room is this?
Brace yourselves,
Game of Thrones references are coming.
Daenerys Targaryen's tent.
Here's a shot of her (portrayed by Emilia Clark) from the show for anybody unacquainted with the series:

Dogs are the best creature in the world!
Here's Tinker, a Boston Terrier, and Coda a... well we don't exactly know what breed she is. Like it matters...
The story goes, we played tug of war and fetch for an hour straight. They got tired, I didn't. So when both of them slumped on the couch for a snooze I took my sketchbook out and started to draw them in this very rare immobile state they were in.
Tinker was just resting his head on the edge of the couch and staring at me. When I turned to her she started to sleepy close her eyes and I had to keep on tapping on her nose to make her open her eyes again. I know not very nice, but I had already started drawing her. I don't think she was too happy.
This is what came out of that...

Art Tip: If you forget your glasses/contacts?
Just draw from imagination. Real life is merely reference anyway, if as an artist you're going for hyper-reality, then you're doing a pointless job, that's what photography machines are for.
Art tip of the day: Never forget your glasses/contacts...
... you kinda need them to actually see the thing you're drawing.
Here are some observational drawings.
"How you doin'?"
For Traditional Animation, we picked animals from a hat. Our assignment was to design an animal character. I got a rooster...

Drawing 2
I hate buildings, edges and basically architecture. I think that I am more appealed to organic shapes.
Medium: Pencil and Photoshop(coloring only)

Much Delayed Spring Semester update
I'm being very lazy uploading things to my blog. I wanted to post some of the drawings I made spring semester. Other stuff (better stuff) is soon to be uploaded. (First they have to be scanned from sketchbooks.)

Finally Animating
It's like eating chocolate-covered pretzels... You just want to keep on eating and eating and eating and animating and animating until you run out of paper and you're just too lazy to go back up to the room and get some more.
#1: Simple Ball Bounce
#2: Ball Bounce in Perspecti-OH MY GOSH- what's that?!
That... was a portal.

Definitions of Ringling #4
To ringle | riNGgəl | (verb) :
4. Coming back from your home town and realizing how much you have missed everything about Ringling college, from the spanish moss hanging down the giant trees, the smell of humidity in the air, the awesome people to the ugly yet nostalgic smell of your dorm room.
3. Getting to know the gorgeous city of Sarasota and enjoying the food while other people's visiting parents buy you food during Family Weekend.
2. Not being able to converse with an individual on a face to face basis for more than 10 minutes because you both have just too much homework to do.
1. The sum of all actions executed due sense of ultimate euphoria caused by meeting so many awesome people.
"Hey, what are you doing at Ringling nowadays?"
"You know just ringlin'."
Back for seconds
Second semester started two days ago! I'm quite proud of what I got so far, let's see if I can achieve new personal bests.
So far I have done my first observational color piece in oil pastels(had never used them before), I liked them very much and also I have animated a bouncing ball.
They're coming up soon...
